Deukmejian Wilderness Park is a rough diamond set into the mountain crown of the Jewel City of Glendale. The mostly undeveloped 700+ acre park features steep chaparral-covered slopes leading up to knife-edge ridges, deep shady canyons filled with tall riparian trees and the sound of trickling water, abundant native wildlife, scenic overlooks with magnificent views of the Crescenta Valley, the Verdugo Mountains and beyond, and a network of hiking trails giving park visitors access to all of these things.

Since retiring in 2007 from a career in Information Technology, Bill Weisman (who lives in the neighborhood below the park) has spent many hours hiking the trails with camera in hand. The 75 photos in this exhibit were chosen from hundreds of images taken between January 2008 and June 2010, including the Station Fire of August/September 2009. Although most of the park's vegetation was burned by backfires, the winter rains have spurred phenomenal regrowth.

Unless otherwise noted in the photo caption, all photos were taken in, or of, Deukmejian Wilderness Park. Most photos were taken in the park; a few were taken of the park from different vantage points in the Crescenta Valley, as noted. Photos are in chronological order.
